Construction machinery operators (excavator operators, crane operators) are at risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders, particularly carpal tunnel syndrome and elbow bursitis.

When using a joystick, the forearm rests on the hard surface of the armrest and is subjected to pressure, which can cause forearm pain. Friction and repeated pressure on the elbow also raise the risk of developing elbow bursitis.

Vibrations from the machinery are transmitted to the forearm through the armrest, and holes, rocks, and other irregularities in the terrain cause shocks to the arm. The pressure and vibrations contribute to the development of carpal tunnel syndrome.

The Ergostick ergonomic armrest attaches directly to the armrest of the machine using hook-and-loop tape. The foam and fluid pouch absorb the vibrations and pressures during joystick operation.
