While we always recommend starting with a seat cushion as the first piece of equipment, two types of back cushions can complete your setup: lumbar supports and backrest cushions.

  • Lumbar support: This cushion is placed to support the lower back. It is particularly appreciated by women, who tend to have a more exaggerated curvature of the lumbar spine and are more prone to lower back pain. Many models are available, such as half-moon pillows and memory foam lumbar pillow.
  • Ergonomic backrest: Longer than a lumbar support, it covers the entire back. We recommend this type of cushion for individuals suffering from back-related pathologies. It provides support and relief to the entire back, helping to reduce muscle tension.

Whether you choose a lumbar support or an ergonomic backrest cushion, here are some tips to help you select the right product:

  • Opt for a flexible model that adapts to your curvature. Not everyone has the same body shape, and some lumbar cushions, like half-moon lumbar pillows, can create discomfort if they don't suit your body shape.
  • Choose a model suited to the intended use. Using your couch cushion as a lumbar support in your car is not a good idea. Beyond its shape possibly being uncomfortable, its composition may not be suitable for absorbing vibrations.
