Office Work - Intermediate Set

Office work imposes numerous constraints on the body, promoting the onset of pain and MSDs (Musculoskeletal Disorders).

The seated posture is a constraining position for the body. In a seated position, the pressure exerted by gravity is directly reflected on the coccyx and sacrum. It is also common to feel numbness in the buttocks during prolonged sitting. Furthermore, many of us tend to slump forward instead of using the backrest of our office chair. In this posture, the spine curves forward, and the intervertebral discs compress, which can pinch the nerves running along the spine and promote pain, in addition to the muscle tension caused by such a position.

Computer work also represents a constraint for the body. When using the computer mouse, the wrist bends slightly, which stresses the carpal tunnel through which the nerves of the hand and wrist pass. The computer keyboard and mouse can also promote shoulder pain due to the lateral movements of the arms. Lastly, people who work on computers are prone to neck pain: a poorly positioned screen forces the neck to stay extended. Working between the computer and paper supports, for example for data entry, also promotes neck pain through side-to-side head movements.

Prolonged maintenance of this posture throughout a workday further increases the impact of these constraints.

To provide a complete solution, we have designed a set with two types of equipment: Equipment designed for computer use:

• A vertical mouse to position the wrist in a neutral position and reduce wrist and hand pain.
• A compact ergonomic keyboard to bring the computer mouse closer to the workstation center, thereby limiting arm movement amplitude and addressing shoulder tension.
• An articulated monitor arm that allows adjustments to the screen’s position along various axes to reduce neck strain and pain.
• A document holder to align work materials with eye level, reducing lateral neck movements and cervical pain.

French-made ergonomic cushions designed for posture:

• The seat cushion: Thicker at the back than at the front, it raises the pelvis relative to the knees to combat slouching during the day and reposition the back in a natural posture. The High-Viscosity Fluid that composes our ergonomic cushions distributes pressure across support areas to reduce numbness in the buttocks. The coccyx cutout reduces pressure on the coccyx and sacrum, relieving buttock and back pain.
