Car journeys place significant strain on the human body.

Postural constraint: Car seats are traditionally tilted backward, positioning the knees above hip level and closing the pelvis. The spine curves inward, compressing and pinching the intervertebral discs, which prevents them from functioning properly as shock absorbers.

Vibration constraint: While driving, the body is exposed to micro-vibrations, shocks, shear forces, jolts, and compressions. These vibrations travel up through the seat and impact the entire spine, contributing to back pain while driving.

Over time, these constraints may lead to the development of pain such as lower back pain (lumbago). The memory foam version of the Ergodrive car cushion has the same core design as our original model (High-Resilience foam and High-Viscosity fluid), but features an additional 2.5 cm layer of memory foam covering the entire top surface of the cushion.

The addition of memory foam creates a soft, plush layer that enhances comfort by softening the feel of the firm base foam, which is essential for absorbing vibrations coming from the seat. The memory foam also helps reduce pressure across all contact areas (buttocks and thighs), whereas the version without memory foam targets pressure relief more specifically under the buttocks at the fluid insert area.
